weddings: modern in chicago

When I saw this gorgeous wedding at Style Me Pretty I knew I wanted to say something about it. Starting with just how beautiful it is! The Modern Wing at the Art Institute is a gorgeous space that’s clean and minimal, but also warm, with wood plank floors and changing views of the sky and the gardens in Millenium Park. This wedding reflects that balance perfectly: a minimalist color palette of black, white and silver softened with natural tones of purple-blue, green and beige.

The entire set of photos is well worth browsing, but I particularly wanted to point out these two, because they’re quiet and easy to overlook:

gabby and nick's chuppah

I love this chuppah!  It’s so clean and simple.  A tallis is one of the most traditional things you can use as a chuppah, but at the same time this feels very modern.  I especially love that the tallis is black and white–picking up the minimalist side of the palette, but in the form of a soft textile with that delicate, imperfectly raveled fringe.  I may be the only one who thinks about chuppahs enough to fall in love with this photo, but to me it’s lovely!
